Living with chronic pain can affect far more than the body; it can impact mood, sleep, relationships, daily functioning, and overall quality of life. This 90 minute workshop offers an accessible look at chronic pain, the nervous system, and the relationship between pain and mental health.
Participants will learn about the pain–stress cycle and explore practical ways to support themselves through gentle breathing, nervous-system regulation, and accessible movement. The workshop emphasizes choice, self-compassion, and working with your body rather than against it. No previous experience with breathing or movement practices is required.
Melissa Anderson is a therapist specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and chronic pain. Her approach integrates trauma-informed psychotherapy with somatic practices, mindfulness, breathwork, and gentle movement to support nervous system regulation and emotional well-being. As a cancer survivor living with the long-term effects of treatment and chronic pain, Melissa brings both professional knowledge and lived experience to her work. She is passionate about helping people better understand their bodies, respond to themselves with compassion, and develop practical tools for navigating life with chronic pain.
